It was about this time last year that I decided to try out this whole capsule wardrobe thing . My goal was to try it for a year, but I’ve loved it so much that I’m definitely going to keep it up. Over the past year, I’ve given away at least three-quarters of my clothes (I had a LOT…) and not only do I not miss them, but I have so much more storage (which is important in our small, closet-free apartment), and our bank account has definitely appreciated the lack of shopping. I also love how easy it is to pick out my clothes each day, and having a smaller amount to choose from is refreshing.

I’m sticking with the original rules I set for myself, except that I’m changing the number of items per capsule, and the dates that I switch out each capsule (just to fit better with the seasons here). So now, I’m keeping each capsule under 30 items, and W inter = December 1 to February 28/29; Spring = March 1 to May 31; Summer = June 1 to August 31; Fall = September 1 to November 30.
