So… A week ago today, I started a “cleanse” of sorts. It’s not a juice fast or anything like that, but more so aimed at eliminating the processed foods and excess sugar from my diet, and hopefully feeling better too. So for last week and this week, I’ve cut out meat, cow dairy, and pretty much everything that contains sugar (including fruit). All I can say is, I don’t know what I’d do without avocados. After this week, I’ll add some fruit and white meats back in, and then go from there.
Anyway, making a morning smoothie without fruit or sugar has been tricky to say the least. The first day it tasted like plants. The second day like soap (I’m not sure how I managed that). But after lots of trial and error, I’ve found a recipe that totally works. It’s actually yummy. Here it is:
INGREDIENTS
1/4 avocado
1/4 cucumber
2 kale leaves, chopped
2 tablespoons natural unsweetened coconut
1/4 cup coconut water
3/4 cup almond milk
2 grams stevia powder (2 packets)
handful of ice cubes
Throw it all in a blender and mix until smooth!
Yum yum! And super good for you too.
Anyone else have suggestions for fruit-free smoothies?
Hi Lizzie,
Loved the picture of you and your daddio and I remember it well!
The smoothie looks awesome and I’m definitely going to try it but maybe not the complete clean thing! You could try the rhubarb compote, sweetened with stevia and I bet a carrot smoothie with coconut would also be delicious.
