If you like to eat, Paris can be a pretty overwhelming city. There are restaurants absolutely everywhere, and so many of them are so, so good! We’ve always enjoyed eating out, but it’s safe to say that we do it even more often since moving to Paris. We often get recommendations from friends that live (and have lived) here, are pretty frequent users of Paris by Mouth , and will often just pop into random places. And since Paris is a pretty popular vacation destination, we often get asked for recommendations! So I thought I’d compile a list of our favourite places to grab a bite and/or beverage (to date… I’m sure I’ll need to update as we try new places). Click on the picture to check out the website for each place :)
Le Bal Café
{6 Impasse de la Défense | 18th arrondissement}
• great place for weekend brunch
• amazing coffee (which can be hard to find!)
• non-touristy area
Bertie’s CupCakery
{26 Rue Chanoinesse | 4th}
• I know what you’re thinking… YES, I work here… but these are actually the BEST cupcakes ever
• cute little bakery on Île de la Cité :)
• we also do custom cakes!
Le Bistrot de Neuilly
{16 Rue du Commandant Pilot | Neuilly-sur-Seine}
• our local / neighbourhood place – so good!
• consistently great food and service
• always play good tunes (another rarity!)
La Caféotheque
{50-52 rue de l’Hôtel de Ville | 4th}
• more of a coffee house than a restaurant, but great if you really need a good cup of coffee
• lots of seating (inside only)
Chez Tantine
{51 rue Laugier | 17th}
• great brunch, but a little out of the way
• quirky little spot, with extra seating downstairs
• great desserts
Ellsworth
{34 rue de Richelieu | 1st}
• opened not too long ago (by the same people that own
Verjus
)
• great food, small plates
• a little more casual than Verjus
Les Enfants Perdus
{9 rue des Récollets | 10th}
• I’ve only been here for brunch (which is awesome), but I’ve heard it’s great for supper as well
• lots of indoor seating, limited outdoor seating
Frenchie
{5-6 rue du Nil | 2nd}
• super good food, set menu
• a little on the pricier side and can be hard to get a reservation
• there’s also Frenchie Wine Bar on the same street (opposite side) which is also fantastic, and more casual – plus there are no reservations (but you need to arrive early!)
La Mangerie
{7 rue de Jarente | 4th}
• awesome tapas place
• greet you with house-made aperitif on arrival
• no exterior seating
Le Marché des Enfants Rouges
{39 Rue de Bretagne | 3rd}
• one of the best (covered) markets in Paris
• all kinds of great food – Lebanese, Moroccan, you name it!
• might be the location of my favourite burger – Le Burger Fermier
• most places have seating, but be prepared to squeeze in!
Le Sawan Bistro Thaï
{35 rue de Faidherbe | 11th}
• casual spot for great thai food
• cheap beer (also hard to find!) and good service
Terroir Parisien
{28 place de la Bourse | 2nd OR 20 rue Saint-Victor, 5th}
• amazing french food
• on the fancier side
Le Triangle
{13 rue Jacques Louvel Tessier | 10th}
• great menu that changes regularly
• microbrewery with delicious beers
• one of the owners is Canadian :)
