First of all, I take zero credit for this lovely beverage. I first had a spritz cocktail when I visited Venice last fall – a friend that I was traveling with recommended it, and I’m so glad she did! It’s become one of my favourites, and I’ve been making it fairly regularly ever since. I’ve visited a few other Italian cities since (Milan, Florence, Rome, and Naples) and it’s on every menu, and you see people everywhere drinking it! How is it I never heard of this before? And why only in Italy?! It’s so good!! Anyway, here’s the (really simple) recipe :)
INGREDIENTS
makes 1 cocktail
several orange slices
3 ounces prosecco
2 ounces aperol (or campari, if you’d rather it a little more bitter)
1 ounce carbonated water
DIRECTIONS
Fill a wine glass with ice and orange slices. Add the prosecco, followed by the aperol and bubbly water, and enjoy! Simple as that :)
YUM!
